VanSteenberge Monks Cafe Monks Cafe is a sour red in the style of the leasding brand of the style - Rodenbach. It is a blend young and old beers make this mildy tart sour ale. It is light bodied with a lactic/sour nose and a bit of sweet and sour in the finish. Very refreshing! Brewed annually by Van Steenberge,it used to be known as Bios Vlaamse de Borgogne, and over time became more and more difficult to find. But the owner of a bar/restaurant in Philadelphia famous for its extensive beer range persuaded the brewery to rename it after them and he made it his house beer - and the place is the Monks Cafe. And its now available elsewhere too, including in Malta.
